System Requirements
Cubase VST needs a powerful computer instead of expensive hardware, so the actual scale of the VST world you can create depends on the performance of the computer you use. As an absolute minimum we would suggest a computer with 32 MB RAM and a processor running at 133 MHz. We would recommend 64 MB and a 200 MHz processor to get the best out of Cubase VST.

Absolute Minimum System Requirements:
Pentium Processor 133 MHz / 32 MB RAM
Windows 95 or Windows 98
Minimum 256 Colors @ 800 x 600 pixels
Sound card and MIDI interface required

Recommended Minimum:
Pentium Processor 166 MHz / 64 MB RAM
(this was on their website in 1998, the current machines that most people  used this on was probably mor e in the 200-450mhz range)
im pretty sure this cd still includes Cubase Audio XT version aswell for those people with lower machines!

article on how to install this version on windows NT based OS (such as windows 2000 or windows XP)

For many people, the most interesting new feature in Cubase 3.7 will be VST Instruments. The new VST 2.0 specification allows plug-ins to receive MIDI data, which lets you automate effects via MIDI commands. However, before you rush off to try it, I must point out that only plug-ins written with VST 2.0 in mind will do this -- existing ones won't magically gain these functions.

some vst plugins are not showing up? how to fix?
Run regedit (c:\windows\regedit.exe) and delete the tree 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Steinberg\VSTPlugins'. That's it - no need to uninstall, reboot, or anything else. The next time Cubase is run this tree will be rebuilt and all the plugins should be visible.

Is Cubase 3.7 compatible with Windows XP?
Steinberg FAQS claim that 3.71 will work under Win2k.
XP and Win2k are both based on NT, so both should work.
If you have 3.71 you can get a free upgrade to 3.72 from Steingberg's ftp site.
ftp://ftp.steinberg.net/Archives/Cubase_VST/PC/
ftp://ftp.steinberg.net/Archives/Cubase_VST/PC/Cubase_VST_3.7x/

my rewire channels from reason, live, or FLStudio are not showing up? Why?
at the time of cubase vst 3.7 for pc's release, (Aug 1999) reason or live had not even been released..
the only thing that cubase vst 3.7 can rewire with properly is Propellerhead's "ReBirth"
which preceded reason by a few years, and gave "birth" to ReWire technology to begin with.
so your only option for rewire in cubase vst 3.7 on pc is to use it with rebirth.

Thanks for this. I had this programme on a radium release, along with a load of other stuff - plugins, rebirth, wavelab, t-racks. I really miss it - so intuitive, easy to use. It seemed to have a distinctive sound (though maybe that was my sound card); I used it mainly for audio, as well as routing in re-birth stuff. I was about 12! Wish I hadn't lost that radium disk.

You can find the Radium release here, along with the add-ons release: https://archive.org/details/goldutils065

You can just extract the iso as if it were a zip file with 7zip (or use the iso to install in an emulator). None of the files are encrypted.

Windows security thinks there’s a virus in the original installer iso linked to in the OP. Reported found in setup.exe on mounting the iso

Could well be a false positive…

Windows security
Windows security is a useless program because there are many false positives, I use other antiviruses to check.

This virus appeared in the days of Windows 10, and could not have been created in the days of Cubase 3.7.
