Proper patchbay functionality requires Windows 3.1 Windows 95/98(first edition) or MacOS 8/9
best to use a motherboard with proper windows 95 driver support which needs a mobo from 2005 or before
Midi functionality works under XP works with a different driver but the patchbay software doesnt work on XP :(

From the Control Panel run "System".
Select the "Hardware" tab.
Click "Add Hardware Wizard...".
Click Next. System will pause while searching for plug-n-play devices. It won't find your Opcode MIDI device.
Choose "Yes, I have already added the hardware", (whether you have or not).
A list of hardware is presented. Select "Add new hardware device", and click Next.
Select "Install the hardware that I manually selected from a list", and click Next.
Select type "Sound, video, and game controllers" and click Next.
Choose "Have Disk".
When prompted, click "Browse" and select oemsetup.inf from the install directory. (The directory you specified when you ran the installation program).
If the system asks you to insert the manufactures installation disk, do so if needed. (Be sure the path shown is the location of xtc2000.dll – which should be in the install directory).
Follow the prompts to complete the installation. You must reboot before using the device.

CONFIGURATION
Upon installation, a configuration dialog is shown. Use it to specify the COM port and the model of Studio X device you are using.. You can have multiple StudioX devices on multiple serial ports.

The same configuration dialog can be accessed at any time from the control panel. The control panel version adds a “TEST” button. Clicking it causes the Configuration dialog to detect a device automatically. (It is not always possible for this test to be accurate).

re: win98/win95 driver installation
the driver installation program for the 128x doesnt feature an "uninstall" feature the way the 64xtc installer does
and the only time you get a chance to specify the COM port address/irq is when you initially install the studio 128x..
after installing the driver the first time, you then have no way of uninstalling it to reinstall it to be able to specify a new COM port address irq... but there is a solution:: you edit the C:\windows\system.ini file and find the [128x] entries and edit the address + irq manually!!!  windows 9x is a pain in the ass, so many reboots!

thats how you can get it to work...
