I tried several different "cracks" (originals cannot be used because PCs don't have "dongle" ports :) extensively in steem with several configurations.
It does work and it will recognise a USB MIDI interface (you need to set it up in Steem options).
I tested it with a simple Alesis Control Hub (no drivers required), MIDI keyboard in and out to a Yamaha MU50 sound module.
All the versions I tested worked for about 20 minutes, then they gave an error message (within Creator/Notator) with a box that says "Something unexpected happened. Please do not do it again!" :D

Not sure if it's a problem with Steem or with the cracks themselves. Will test the disks on a real Atari & post results...

so it times out after 20 min or so? strange
wonder if the problem is in the crack.. or the emulator

It may be the emulator. I tried the Cubase 2 MCA crack (which is legendary here in Europe for being even more reliable than the original!) and in Steem it seems to have problems with hanging notes.
I am going to test the various Notator versions on my real STE in the next couple of days and post back.

ok just be sure to tell full hardwae spec (ie: what midi interface used with steeem etc)
