These is the AppleTalk protocol for Windows XP / 2000. It's necessary for connection to Macs via some Programs like MacServerIP or ExtremeZ-IP. Just run the .bat file and install via "Network Connections/LAN Connection/Install/Protocol/AppleTalk" and enjoy.

MacServerIP
extremely fast file server for Mac clients - MacServerIP 8 available

MacServerIP is an extremely fast file server for Mac clients running on Windows NT/2000/XP/2003/Win 2008/Windows 7/Vista x32/x64. Speed up file transfer between Macs and Win 2003/XP/2000/NT/Win 2008/Windows 7/Vista x32/x64 by up to 5 times. New in MacServerIP 8: improved performance; optimized for Win 2000; special optimized version for NT Cluster / Win 2000 Datacenter/Advanced / Win 2003 Datacenter/Enterprise available; inexpensive Workstation version available for turning a NT Workstation & 2000/XP Professional PC into an inexpensive extremely fast print & file server for Macintosh clients (*1)

Key Features:

On 100Base-T and 1000Base-T networks, it's 300%-500% faster than a conventional file server, like Services For Macintosh (SFM) of Windows NT
Seamless and safe upgrade of existing Windows NT/2000 SFM installations within minutes (no need to restart server; customers can always switch back to SFM). Can even be used in parallel with SFM. No need to re-link any documents on client side or to re-install files
Compatible with all common page layout programs, including QuarkXPress 4.0.4
Runs on Windows NT 3.51, 4.0, 2000 and XP (Workstation/Professional and Server versions (Intel))
Macintosh clients can access volumes shared by MacServerIP, over-routed TCP/IP networks, like the Internet and dialup PPP connections

Requirements

System requirements: (for the server computer)
·   Windows NT 3.51, 4.0, 2000, 20003, XP as Server or Workstation or Windows 95/98; Alpha or Pentium Processor / Pentium II or compatible with 60 MHz. or more; 32 MB RAM or more; at least 5 MB free drive space.
·   The Windows TCP/IP protocol must be installed and a TCP/IP address must have been assigned. Windows TCP/IP protocol can be installed using the "Network" applet in the Windows control panel. See Windows manual for more information.
·   The Windows AppleTalk protocol (SFM / Services for Macintosh) should be installed in order to use the AppleTalk protocol with MacServerIP.
·   A harddisk partition formatted with the NTFS file system is recommended. It is advantageous to share volumes residing on NTSF drives. For more information see: Converting a partition to NTSF and Add / Change Volume.

System requirements for the Macintosh client computers:
·   PowerPC or 68k with AppleShare client software installed.
·   AppleShare client software 3.7 or higher with TCP/IP should also be installed in order to use the faster file transfer over TCP/IP. The AppleShare client software can be downloaded for free from the Apple world wide web server: http://www.apple.com or ftp://ftp.apple.com or ftp://ftp.info.apple.com/Apple.Support.Area/Apple_SW_Updates/US/Macintosh/Networking-Communications/AppleShare_Client

General information about the usage of MacServerIP:
·   MacServerIP can co-exist with Windows NT's MacFile service. You can use both services at the same time. But you must name the shared AFP servers differently. You are able to evaluate the MacServerIP package without interfering with an existing and parallel running Windows NT MacFile server installation.
·   MacServerIP can re-use (copy) Macintosh the file creator information from files stored on a volume, which is or has been shared by the Windows NT's MacFile service.
·   MacServerIP uses the same scheme to store Macintosh file resource forks as Windows NT's MacFile service does. Forks created by MacFile can be used by MacServerIP and vice versa.
