You gonna laugh. In 1993 I used my Korg 01w/fd onboard 16 track midi sequencer.  And I used: e-mu Vintage keys for synth sounds, akai s950 for samples, and Alesis sr16 drums.   Mixed thru Mackie 1604 to DAT Tape. That's all!

Then I finally got live audio capacity around year 1999-2000 with a Korg D8, then a Korg D16 (which actually has only 12 faders). Those 3 Environ EPs which relaunched my career were all done on D8/D16.  I stopped sequencing , simply recorded audio live from my SH101 and jamming directly into D16.
