You can get the old drivers and manuals from the Midiman Germany website backup at webarchive.org

The attached pm24_20.exe can be opened with 7-Zip or WinRAR.

it says the portman 2x4 has a windows 2000 driver.. then that probably would work on XP? wouldnt it? 8)

but this page says
The Portman series is not supported under Windows 2000 or XP.
so the win2k W2k dir must be for something else other than the portman

Hi all :)
This is what i believe to be the XP driver.
The file is dated 23July2005.
I still have an XP setup, so when I have chance, I'll try to find my 2x4 and see if it works.
I recall I changed to Opcode and Miditerminal ... for greater I/O ... and possibly, for more stable sysex.
Looking back, it's hard to believe how costly such interfaces were.

i have a portman 4x4 but not 2x4
i checked the files int he archive that you posted and they are dated from 1996..
so theres no way thats an XP driver.. its just a win95-win98 driver
windows xp didnt get released untill after 9/11
the date has to be after October 2001 for it to be a real XP driver
but thank you for your efforts

Thanks Chris :)
Sincere apologies ...
I can't imagine how I came to wrongly label the original folder as "XP" ... though I surely recall there were beta XP drivers for the Portmans ... somewhere ... :)
Thereafter, I changed to Opcode 64x & Miditerminal 4140/MTS64 on-going.
I abandoned Opcode for sysx problems with the beta XP driver; though, I still have my pair of 64x.
I've long used ESI/Miditerminal which I've found very reliable and good vfm. XP drivers are still available at ESI archive. My fave is the AT010 pci which affords TDIF/R-Bus, ADAT/SPDif & MIDI ... 7ms latency ... near RME spec.
I also have a DR G 6400 which runs driverless via gameport. It has onboard Roland GS compatible. Most MPU401 gameport cards work. I use it in Win 7. Such as C-media still support cheap pci gameport soundcards with Win 7 drivers.
FYI: I've just 'found' my ESI WaMi Box PCMCIA which I used in XP with both a laptop and via desktop PCI-PCMCIA card. I'll never use this again so you can have it for your collection, if you pay shipping. I can no longer test it. It worked properly last time I used it, c 2010. XP drivers/utility are available at ESI.
