Network 2 units for 16 MIDI IN and OUT and 256 MIDI channels (Mac and Windows)
Network up to 4 units for 512 MIDI channels (Mac only)
Fully network-compatible with MTP I and MTP II
Compatible with any software that supports the MTP II
Network units up to 1,000 feet apart

the claim that 2 units can be networked for 16 MIDI in + out has long been made by MOTU!
back in the days of windows 95!!! but i dont understand how this is possible if there was an os limitation of 11 ports back then??? because this would allow only for a PC Flyer connected at the same time as a 8x8 PC Compatible MTP

at the time there was also the Express XT:
MIDI Express XT 8x8 MIDI/SMPTE interface/patchbay/merger with synchronization.
Serves as either a MIDI Machine Control master or slave

here i can see an ad saying that master tracks pro v6.0 (as of june 1995?) was updated to support 256 midi channels! (256 divided by 16 is 16 MIDI PORTS!)
