Cubase and Nuendo now with Mac OS X Leopard support (Feb 5, 2008)

Steinberg today announced that the latest updates to its Cubase and Nuendo product families now offer full and official support for Apple’s Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard operating system. The 4.1.2 updates to Cubase 4, Cubase Studio 4 and Nuendo 4 are available now to registered customers as a free download. The latest addition to the Cubase family, Cubase Essential 4, will fully support Leopard when it reaches retail outlets worldwide over the upcoming quarter.

“We’re very excited to be able to offer full support for Leopard on the Mac for our Cubase and Nuendo customers,” comments Steinberg’s Marketing Director Frank Simmerlein. “Apple Macintosh forms an indispensable part of our long-term product strategy, and these updates are vital to our commitment to cross-platform support for both Windows and Mac OS X moving forward.”

The release of Leopard-compatible versions comes hot on the heels of product updates and other technologies designed for Cubase and Nuendo customers on the Mac. Having released Universal Binary updates for Cubase and Nuendo in 2007, Steinberg also implemented the VST Bridge technology, allowing older plug-ins written for PPC-based Macs to be used with Cubase and Nuendo on the latest Intel-powered Apple computers.
