Pity in a sense, but quite a while ago for a normal DAW I've really been loving Reaper. You can't beat the community and the developers are lightning responsive. Once Cockos incorporated MIDI and notation (!) it basically does all I needed Sonar for. In fact if I remember right its notation abilities are much better than Sonars -- although my knowledge of Sonar does not extend to the last versions.

90% of the time I use Live since I don't have time to sequence any more--but for quality of sound, IMO, you can't beat dedicated synth modules compared to soft synths. Unless it's just my imagination? Or bad ears?
