download + install HWiNFO32
click on "motherboard" then look in right pane
look for "Motherboard slots" and directly under it "PCI-Express versions supported"

on one of my win7-64 systems i got an error abotu sha96 signing or whatevr so i just downloaded an older version of the app

and this worked perfectly
