dbx - 262 - Stereo Compressor/Limiter
World Class Performance
The world renowned 160A and 166A are in concert systems and professional recording studios around the world. Now, the dbx 262 gives the amateur, as well as the professional, performance you've come to expect from dbx but at a price that has only recently been considered possible.

Carrying on the classic design and construction techniques that have made dbx the standard for the pro audio industry, the dbx Project 1 262 compressor/limiter uses our patented dbx VCA and RMS detector as the engine that drives this processor of unlimited uses.
Flexibility and Power
Need to get the best mix to your DAT or 2 track? The 262 is an absolute breeze to use. With our OverEasy® compression you'll get natural sounding gain control while keeping those nasty peaks and unwanted transients from blowing your whole mix. Want to get that cool poppin' sound from your guitar or bass? It's a snap with the 262. Try the 262 for your latest jingle spot voice over. It'll move that vocal track right in front of the mix while maintaining the overall mix continuity your local broadcaster is looking for.

Want to get more overall volume from your PA? The 262 can help you control the serious peaks that are hitting your system all the time. This "peak control" (compression and limiting) allows you to turn up the overall volume while minimizing the dangers of blowing your system components. All of this in a smooth, natural sounding process you can only get with a dbx compressor.
Precision engineered and constructed
Let's take a look at the construction features on the dbx Project 1 262. At first glance, you'll notice the units are great looking, and as you turn the controls something else becomes apparent, these units are extremely well built. The controls exude great precision, and the feel is a solid "click". When you open the box, you won't find the external power supply that accompanies most processors in this price range. That's because we know how difficult external power supplies are to work with and even though it costs a little more we put the high quality power supply right in the unit. All the inputs and outputs are TRS differentially balanced 1/4" jacks that are bolted down to the chassis. This "nutting down" of the jacks insures that even if someone stomps on a cable plugged in to the unit, it's not going to tear up the circuit board inside. A switch on the back panel makes selecting different operating voltages a snap for when you take your system overseas. Of course, since we use the same industry standard dbx VCA and RMS detector used in many of our more expensive models, you can be sure that the performance of the Project 1 262 performs to world class standards.
The Logical Conclusion
If you're looking for world class performance, a brand name you can be proud of and a price you can afford, the new dbx Project 1 262 compressor/limiter is the only choice for you.
