maybe you arent aware; i just found out that there are PATA->SATA hdd caddys that easily let you stick a modern SSD into an older PATA interface laptop for purpose of using Win7/XP/98 or perhaps a lowbie Hackintosh of Tiger

these adapters allow you to easily insert a SATA SSD to a computer that has no SATA connection of any kind

not sure how long these are going to be available for so might be a good idea to stash a few if you are interested in laptops from 1999-2005 time frame
