Sometimes a simple app is a great help...

For Trackers getting your head wrapped around the hexadecimal aspect is a positive...

The reason for it is to get greater resolution out of 2 digits rather than 3 so instead of a resolution of 0-99 you get 0-255 (if using zero as start)...

For Trackers I have made up a RTF that helps greatly-

####Hexadecimal Horsesh@t####

Rule of Thumb-

Division by 4

00 = 0% (Decimal 00)

40 = 25% (Decimal 64)

80 = 50% (Decimal 128)

C0 = 75% (Decimal 192)

FF = 100% (Decimal 255)

Division by 8

00 = 0% (Decimal 00)

20 = 12.5% (Decimal 32)

40 = 25% (Decimal 64)

60 = 37.5% (Decimal 96)

80 = 50% (Decimal 128)

A0 = 62.5% (Decimal 160)

C0 = 75% (Decimal 192)

E0 = 87.5% (Decimal 224)

FF = 100% (Decimal 255)

Division by 16

00 = 0% (Decimal 00)

10 = 6.25% (Decimal 16)

20 = 12.5% (Decimal 32)

30 = 18.75% (Decimal 48)

40 = 25% (Decimal 64)

50 = 31.25% (Decimal 80)

60 = 37.5% (Decimal 96)

70 = 43.75% (Decimal 112)

80 = 50% (Decimal 128)

90 = 56.25% (Decimal 144)

A0 = 62.5% (Decimal 160)

B0 = 68.75% (Decimal 176)

C0 = 75% (Decimal 192)

D0 = 81.25% (Decimal 208)

E0 = 87.5% (Decimal 224)

F0 = 93.75% (Decimal 240)

FF = 100% (Decimal 255)

Anyways that is the RTF as attachment...

Another is Numerimal which is a small offline conversion app that does HEX-DEC, DEC-HEX (and others) & has a few nice features...

Notifier sometimes comes in handy when you need to know the length of any note in ms at a particular tempo-

AutoTune is fantastic for quickly changing pitch of a sample...NOTE-It is destructive & changes the actual sample & does not make a copy so be sure to use a 'copy' if you are unsure...

Softcore Synth 1.1 is nice to actually & quickly PLAY a WAV using your chosen MIDI keyboard...THAT IS IT! nice if your Tracker or Sequencer is too involved to load up -play a sample for auditioning quickly & in succession...

TuningFork gives you an AUDIBLE tone to tune...well, ANYTHING to...Sometimes you are farting with some sound generator of some sorts & don't know if your uncalibrated settings are now off-key...USE THIS! This is a 64bit too included...

And there is Scal V5 which is great for all kinds of calculations for MIDI or audio...

None of these require install (optional with AutoTune)....

Also found the old Tracker's Handbook where someone converted it to PDF...very nice...
