Synoptic Probe 1.40 Win32 - Vintage Synth Sequencer!!!>>>
« on: February 18, 2022, 08:02:26 AM »
Release from March 1999 this was the next phase for Synoptic which was a response to the SUCCESS of Propellerheads' ReBirth...

In many ways BETTER than ReBirth it still did not get off the ground...Too Bad as it is quite nice...

Could've been the price as $199.00 was a bit steep and ReBirth had come down in price by then...

Before we get started there's an amazing epiphany on Probe...A guy doing a realtime ambient on YT here-

Now...NOW!...He clearly states in description that ALL tunes done under Helios moniker from those years done in PROBE!!!

Well, if you go to his soundcloud page & find all the various 'Helios' tunes you will be amazed and perhaps even soil yourself!!

This is a guy who used PROBE to the max for sure...the PROBE poster child....

FEATURES-

You can import WAVs on tracks & adjust pitch & adjust velocity but for WAVs that's about it...

The internal Synth is pretty damn good & there is a link sector to daisy chain things together basically being 'modular' without having modular connectors...

Most aspects of the internal Synth can be automated...

Only complaints I have so far are the sequencer is just a single resolution but at least they were smart enough to make it a 12-24 step so you can use triplets...

Other is that there should've been a playback offset for the WAVs as some drum sounds or other 'instant attack' sounds will sound off compared to the internal Synth...The cure is to TRY different WAVs as it's playing to find best fit or pre-process the WAV or leave it alone & adjust the INTERNAL SYNTH ADSR or FX can help the blending of it...

QUALITY PIECE!...And very cheap on here...

NOTE!!...Have created some extra backgrounds you can use if wished & also some extra sounds for the synth that were available back then...

Here's on that guy did in his earlier 'Helios' days in 2001...It was for a contest at Planet Mu where they were given one 4-bar beat then asked to make a tune out of it...

A departure from all the ambient stuff....
