its now possible to re-flash any SIL3112 2port PCI SATA card to boot macos9
(1/1)
chrisNova777:
previously to make this possible it required that the eprom be swapped out with a specific brand / size rom chip but this is now no longer neccessary thanks to some serious sleuthing
thanks to dosdude1 + others for their contributions to making this possible
doing so will make the card able to boot any PCI powermac into mac os 7.5 thru 9 aswell
as booting into OSX on g3/g4/g5 machines
dosdude1 has achieved a great thing here making many powermacs able to use new hard drives ;)
this has been a goal of the retro mac community for quite some time and its awesome to see progress
users at macos9lives speculated that there is an approx 10% speed increase but thats a technical measurement
