Renoise 2.5.1 on Windows 98
(1/1)
dawful:
Running with KernelEx, Windows 98 can now handle Renoise 2.5.1.
The only issue I ran into was needing to disable GUI effects. The problem here, is that it is enable by default, after install. With it enabled, menus do not appear when you click on on them. They will draw when you mouse over them. This is also true with many buttons.
You can either fish you way through the problem, until you disable the setting (Edit > Preferences > GUI > Enable GUI effects [Uncheck]), or manually edit the "Config.xml" file value "VisualEffects" from "true" to "false" (Notepad will work fine, use Search>Find). You can find it in "C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Renoise\V2.5.1".
I am using a Bear Window's Vbemp video driver. The graphics issue may not be an issue for everyone.
KernelEx properties for "Renoise.exe "is set with XP compatibility, and advanced setting "Don't use these settings in child processes".
