"dunno why 3.x didnt work"

As far as I can remember, there was no online update for Windows 3.x.

"dunno why 3.x didnt work"

As far as I can remember, there was no online update for Windows 3.x.

thats not what i was referring to.. v3 of their "update your old windows online" service
see their chart of support on their website https://www.windowsupdaterestored.com/

https://www.windowsupdaterestored.com/en/readthisfirst.htm
v3.1 of their update service supports ::

Windows 95
Windows NT 4.0 (Service Packs 3-6a)
Windows 98 (First & Second Edition)
Windows ME
Windows 2000 (up to Service Pack 2)
Relive the classic updating experience as it was in 1999!

its an independant project that was founded by 3rd party to support microsoft's update and restore the "update experience" to what it was in the late 1990s  if u were brave enough to use their service to update your win9x

Thank you for clarifying.

My memories of using Windows Update on 9x are that your chances were kinda 50/50: Some times it would work, other times it would just crash or get stuck on a loop...
