For any PPC users out there, I posted a guide for enabling ExFAT support on Leopard and Tiger using Fuse for macOS, fuse-exfat, and Homebrew (Tigerbrew). Fuse requires command-line mounting/unmounting so it's not a perfect "just works" solution, but it's the best we got! Following these steps was pretty smooth on my Leopard Powerbook G4 2004.
