Barebone Roland JV-80/880 emulation, based on the reverse engineering of the soundchip from the SC-55 and its derivative:

It can also use binaries from the SR-JV80 board, that are available online (for sector101 Romulator):

midi - Parallel (PC) / Re: 19" Motu Midi Timepiece AV (non-usb) (1996)

I made a video of installing the driver for MOTU Midi Timepiece AV (Parallel) on Windows 98 SE.  This installer includes the editor for editing patches.

I also have used the parallel Micro Express and PC MIDI Flyer quite extensively on this same computer for many years (though not at the same time :) ).  Interestingly, the MTP AV only has 8 patch memory slots, and they're all editable.  The Micro Express, on the other hand, has 8 editable user slots plus 8 (useful) hard-coded preset slots.

The driver was acquired from Internet Archive Wayback Machine.  I've written a blog post about this elsewhere, but here it where to get the last Win 98 (SE) (& probably Win 95) drivers for all these parallel port devices:

I'll be trying to get the hardware going on Windows XP sometime later, following the advice elsewhere in this forum/thread.  Thanks.

midi - Serial (MAC) / Re: Motu Midi Express (1994) 4 in / 6 out + SMPTE
« Last post by dawful on October 29, 2024, 08:40:37 PM »
I have one of these. It uses a standard PC desktop power supply cord, and serial MIDI cable. I don't have any cables for it, and use my Opcode 128x (for older setups). Don't know how to work out payment; but (for the price of shipping) I'd be glad to give it a home.

You'd want to make sure you had the right serial cable for it.

These days, I can tell you that it turns on; but can't really test it beyond that.

Just circling back to close the loop. The serial cable from 8bitclassics works perfectly!! Thanks again for your guidance and knowledge. Much appreciated!!
