Windows 7 features the ability to sort folders by "Library"
https://www.howtogeek.com/howto/10283/understanding-the-libraries-feature-in-windows-7/

under "Favorites" thers an option entitled "Recent Places" this keeps track of all the folders you have been interacting with in recent file copies or openings etc

Go to your Personal Folder, meaning c:/Users/myusername/Recent/

Sort icons by Type.

Sort icons by Date Modified

Now go to Favorites/Recent Places

I then found that recent places link was now sorted by Date modified every time!!
