Overview

The Marc 8 MIDI audio system provides eight analogue inputs, eight analogue outputs and two MIDI-I/Os with 16 input and output channels each. The Marc 8 MIDI is also known as SIENA.

This compact PCI-card transforms a regular PC into the main unit of a professional home recording studio. With high-quality 24bit/96kHz converters and sound optimised circuit design it offers professional audio quality on an especially good price basis, forming the optimal solution to an affordable multi-channel recording system with extended MIDI-capabilities.

The effective hardware design with no-interrupt architecture and a continually evolving high-speed driver suite provide an undisturbed operation and minimal latency values in all software surroundings. This makes the Marc 8 MIDI particularly suitable for the working with software instruments and software samplers.

Flexible routing, start-stop synchronisation of all in- and outputs, sample exact transfer on all channels and direct delay-free controlling of the inputs (zero-latency monitoring) make the Marc 8 MIDI the ideal partner for ambitious harddisk-recording, as well.

Like every member of the Marc-series, the Marc 8 MIDI is characterised by an easy installation and a steadily controlled high quality of manufacturing. It operates perfectly with Intel and AMD based systems.

The Marc 8 MIDI can be extended with the optional external 19’’ Breakout-Box including microphone and instrument pre-amplifiers.
In-/Outputs

Eight analogue in- and eight analogue outputs in full duplex architecture in connection with a sound optimised circuit design provide professional audio specifications. A/D and D/A converters of the well-known manufacturer AKM, as well as the complete hard- and software architecture are designed for 24bit/96 kHz operation.

Software controlled input amplifiers allow incoming signals to be boosted to +18 dB or cut to –40 dB. All input channels can be routed to any output – even if several audio systems of the same type are installed. The monitoring modes on-punch and on-rec are supported by all input channels.

The analogue I/Os are lead outside via a cable bundle with gilded rca-connectors.

Furthermore the Marc 8 MIDI provides two MIDI in- and outputs (DIN-connector) with 32 MIDI channels, including stream optimisation for especially effective data transfer. Incoming and/or outgoing MIDI commands can be filtered by individually chosen channels and parameters.
Multi-card-operation/cascading

The Marc 8 MIDI is capable of easily being cascaded to other Marian audio systems. This way up to four members of the Marc-series can be combined to an affordable multi-channel system, in which only one single driver manages the controlling of all parameters of the same Marc type. In connection with the Syncbus it takes care for perfect synchronisation of all individual systems and makes all Marc systems available to one ASIO software application.
Driver suite

The Marc 8 MIDI provides a complete list of drivers for Windows.

The continually improved and expanded multi-client driver for ASIO, GSIF 2, WDM with kernel streaming and real, non emulated DirectSound support, provide minimal latency values for all software surroundings. Modular and clear driver dialogues allow the manipulation of many parameters and the display of all in and outputs. That includes exact level metering, flexible monitoring and synchronisation settings.
