see this is why i had that disabled before but people complained and wanted "control" over their own posts -- so he must have deleted his own post.

Code: [Select]
chrome.exe --ignore-certificate-errors
if you run the .exe for the browser from the "run" commnad and issue the switch "--ignore-certificate-errors" you can use your browser again!

this works to get chrome 49.0.2623.112 working on windows XP!!!!!!
you can edit the shortcut on your desktop to point to "C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --ignore-certificate-errors
simply adding the command line switch after the brackets that point to the .exe file

Digital Recorders / Re: yamaha CBX-D5 (1992) 4 track "digital recording processor"

I looked though the hardware files included, with Cakewalk PA 5 and 9, and I didn't see anything. I also found no evidence, of support, for the other devices listed in that review.

After the Windows drivers are installed ( maybe -> http://web.archive.org/web/20030411093807/http://www.yamaha-xg.com/utility/index.html) I'm not sure what more would be required. The included audio profile file has no mention of it. But audio hardware profiles can be generated.

Could it have something to do with DirectShow (directsound) support? I read, elsewhere, one of the devices gave instructions to select the DirectShow driver listing, in Cakewalk, as opposed to the other listings for the device. It may have nothing to do with it.

I feel like I must be missing something. Probably just that I never used audio recording hardware, that old (only midi).

Sound on sound reported that the CBX was supported by Cakewalk: https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/midi-audio-pc-steinberg-cubase-emagic-logic-audio-cakewalk-pro-audio
But I can't find any information confirming this. Can anyone tell me, if this was true? Or maybe there was some supported planned, but they dropped it?

Emagic Logic / Re: logic 5.5 was optimized for pIII, pentium 4 & AMD Athlon XP Cpus

There are some hardcore 5.5 fans out there. I always intend to give it a good run, but never get around to it. I'm probably missing out.

It isn't hard to figure out, but the initial audio configuring always gives me a moment of pause. Then I remember, nope nope, skip these settings; until I reach the one that applies to me.

Vintage Software / EnergyXT 64Bit (not vintage)
« Last post by dawful on February 14, 2024, 10:01:47 PM »
EnergyXT has been in very slow development, these days. The current beta requires no license. I don't know if anyone, here, is into Win64. I also don't know the quality of the application (never used it). But if you are curious....
-> https://www.xtsware.com/?page_id=297 As of this post, the current beta release is 02-04-24.

I don't know if it's any good. But it's free.
