Title: pro tools HD pcix on sandy bridge hackintosh
Post by: chrisNova777 on July 21, 2015, 01:07:09 AM

some specs from the video:

jetway JNAF93Q67 or JNAF93-Q77 motherboard with 4 pci slots
(do not confuse with http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813153289)
Fractal Design DEFINE XL case (http://www.fractal-design.com/home/product/cases/define-series/define-xl-r2-black-pearl) (or DEFINE R4 case) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811352029
sandy bridge (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_Core_i7_microprocessors#Sandy_Bridge_microarchitecture_.282nd_generation.29) i7 2600 or 2600K cpu (http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=cpu+i7+%282600%2C+2600K%2C+2700K%29&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.TRS0&_nkw=cpu+i7+%282600%2C+2600K%2C+2700K%29&_sacat=0)
32mb of DDR3 ram
HD3 Pro tools System (3 cards)
96 io by Digidesign

running 10.7.3 (mac os x lion)
and pro tools HD 10

toronto people: buy i7 from bestbear cpus

arc xl case may also work nicely

the gigabyte ga-p75-d3 motherboard may also work nicely (provided the heatsink isnt a physical obstruction for whatever pci-x cards u have)
im attaching a pic of the block diagram of that gigabyte board showing that there is no bridge chip on the 4 pci + they connect
directly to the b75 chipset (pictured below) note that the manual indicates this board cannot support 1600 DDR3 without an ivy bridge cpu (ddr3 1333 only with sandy bridge?)

if anyone tries a build with one of these haswell boards please let me know some feedback so i can post it here ;)
on the other hand the heatsink may pose a problem to people using pci-x cards...

speaking of haswell. theres aparently ALSO a version of the jetway board that is Q87 Chipset socket 1150 (haswell)

JNAF95-Q87 LGA 1150 (haswell 4th gen)

JNAF93-Q77 LGA 1155 (ivy bridge 3rd gen)

JNAF92-Q67 LGA 1155 (sandy bridge 2nd gen)

note that the Q87 board supports DDR3 1600
and that the Q77+Q67 boards only supports DDR 1333 or 1066
