[Sharing] AKAI Sample CDs
« on: June 25, 2016, 12:20:41 AM »
hey guys, i have been collecting dated sample cds
and i share them on my blog from time to time
i also have included info about the particular cd in zip files
here you go

https://vintagemusicsamples.wordpress.com/

<Hint> unzip pw for Samplecell format = samplecell

just in case if you are new to them
there are a few apps can read these cds, eg:
Kontakt, MachFive , Cdxtract, Extreme Sample Convertor...etc

i dont use MachFive, so no comment.

Kontakt is the most powerful one, reads AKAI,EMU,Roland,Kurzweil,Ensoniq,Samplecell...etc
for Kurzweil format, use 'Import' to convert entire CD first

CDxtract reads AKAI,EMU,Roland,Kurzweil,Samplecell
it hangs from time to time when previewing sample cds
but its conversion is good

Extreme Sample Convertor reads AKAI,EMU
it has handy autoloop function with OK autoloop setting, plus Xfade
i use ESC for previewing AKAI+EMU CDs, occasionally, autolooping

occasionally, they might fail to convert particular patches/samples correctly
eg. ESC cant read "East West - Ultimate String Collection" correctly
therefore, you better get them all installed

yea, some of them are still usable

as a 90s music lover,
im very happy to see an "oldschool music" forum like this
and hopefully more people will share their vintage sound libraries.
especially Roland factory library for S770, S760...etc
they are like nowhere to be found:\

thanks for being contributive :)

Peter Siedlaczek's advanced orchestra upgrade '97 (3cds) is the first thing that comes to my mind
and maybe some AKAI cds from Prosonus, Roland L-CD703-705,  L-CDP series.

actually, anything that is unreleased on wareZ sites will do LOL

Well, krud...Don't have any of those you listed. The advanced orchestra upgrade '97 was 'out on the scene' at one time as there is still a listing at magesy with old dead links...cannot find anything else out there on it. I don't have anything roland. Bought a new roland sh-101 back in 1982...That's about it. Well, let me know if there is anything else & MANY THANX    -Project5er

haha, yea. these are difficult to find. they are pretty much forever lost

anyway if we are to take it a bit more serious....
if you dont mind, you may take a print-screen photo of your collection
that would be an easier way to get things sorted.

oops, sorry for the late reply
kind of busy lately

check this link out
http://www.roland-museum.de/z_syn_sam_a.php?l=en#z_samp_zip
the 1st one is quite convincing, the official products from Roland
unfortunately, i dont have any Roland device for floppy disks....

and i suspect the 2nd one is just some amateur-collection
i have got L-CD701 from audionews.org
and a single L-CD701 has got way more patches/samples than the listing above

indeed i have seen some roland samples on AKAI format
but couldnt find any info on Roland site
so they are very likey 3rd party stuff
