Mike Sheffey, Miramar Systems director of sales, said this new enhancement offers the Windows PC with greater flexibility in accessing Mac IP Servers, a service not provided with Windows NT Workstation. This feature enhancement to PC MACLAN levels the productivity output for Macs on a Windows network, he added.
Miramar Systems Inc. has announced an upgrade to its networking product PC MacLAN for Windows 95, 98 and ME that is Mac OS X 10.1-compatible. The new version is 7.2.1.
The software installs on Windows-equipped PCs and enables them to access files and printers through AppleTalk File Protocol. With the software installed, PCs running Windows 95, 98 or ME can connect to AppleShare file serves and Macintoshes with File Sharing turned on. A PC MacLAN-equipped Windows computer can access the files over the Internet or a LAN, according to Santa Barbara, Calif.-based Miramar Systems.
