Correction. You are right!
Here they are:
ftp://ftp.steinberg.net/Archives/Cubase_preVSTversions/PC/Cubase30/or
ftp://ftp.steinberg.de/Archives/Cubase_preVSTversions/PC/Cubase30/Standard and Score are 3.04 to 3.05 update files
(the readme file says you can use them to upgrade to 3.05 from any version like 3.01 / 3.02 / 3.03 and 3.04)
The Audio version instead is a FULL install, no previous version required.
I have checked the AUDIO installation files in the Zip with the ones on the VST3.70 CD and there are some differences (see pictures: VST3.70 foldes on the left, Steinberg FTP version folder on the right)
In the AUDIO driver folder some files are newer on the VST3.70 CD (see picture 2 for an example of the AUDIO/CBX-D3_D5 subfolder).
The other difference is in the STYLES folder: the FTP version has an extra style subfolder missing from the CD version (see picture 3).
I don't have a Cubase Audio dongle (yet!) so cannot test in practice.
PS.: About dongles.
Score 3.05 has its own RED dongle (see my post at the bottom of this page
http://www.oldschooldaw.com/forums/index.php/topic,568.0.html )
It has a sticker that says "Cubase Score".
I will NOT run Cubase Standard.
Red dongles for Standard Cubase 3.05 seem to be identical to the red dongles for Standard VST3.X but I have had mixed results running Standard Cubase 3.05 with dongles that specifically came with VST3.X CDs.
I have four of those dongles and some of them work some don't. I am planning an in-depth test soon.
With regards to the BLUE dongle that comes with VST5 I can confirm from testing that:
- You CAN run VST3.X versions with that dongle as well as 5.X
Blue Standard dongles will run Standard VST3.X and Standard VST5.X
Blue Score dongles will run Score VST3.X and Score VST5.X
I don't have a blue VST5.X/32 to check if it works with VST3.X/24.
Blue dongles CANNOT run pre-VST versions like 3.05 or earlier unfortunately.
Green dongles are still a mystery to me...never seen one apart from pictures.
