chris remarked about Reason: "operating system requirements are easier to deal with on windows; as any version from 7+ will run on windows 7 or above"

I kept Reason 4.01 and as far as I recall it worked even on Windows 10. Lately I decided it was worth $150 to upgrade to Reason 11 and I'm glad I did; all old Reason sets still work perfectly, there are neat new devices and effects, and the icing on the cake is now you can use Reason as a VST3 into Live, ReWire no longer required.

I also think as of this date that Reason 12 is out.

We meet again...Like two ships passing in the night...

Once again I prefer Reason 2.5 & 3.04 'cause they run on ANYTHING...were the absolute most efficient as you could have 50-60 tracks or more no need worry about 'bouncing' a track, even the demo tunes were the best, especially in 2.5...

Personally have made over 200 GB of refills from al kinda libs many including sampling the output of kontakt & converting to NN-XT, then creating the refills...In this way I get much newer kontakt into OLDER reason...

Also for netbooks these older very good without the 'wings' style instrument browser which is not needed starting with reason 4 as well as going to a vector sequencer using more space & resource...

Just my take...opinions vary....
