Pro Tools LE 6.2.3 for Mac OS X 10.3 (untested) and Pro Tools LE 6.1.1 for Windows XP were the last versions of Pro Tools that support Audiomedia III hardware.

other versions you can use are:
Pro Tools LE 6.1.2 for Mac OS X 10.2 (Jaguar) http://archive.digidesign.com/compato/osx/tb/
Pro Tools LE 5.1.1 for Mac OS 9 http://archive.digidesign.com/compato/os9/tb/
Pro Tools LE 5.1.1 for Win98se/ME http://archive.digidesign.com/download/511winle/
Pro Tools LE 5.0.1 for Mac OS 8.6 & 9 (PDF) http://archive.digidesign.com/support/compat/compatodocs501.pdf

Audiomedia III cards are not compatible with Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) or with Power Mac G5
so if you want to use your AMIII card on Mac Os X you can do so up to OSX Panther (10.3.9) http://www.oldschooldaw.com/forums/index.php?board=24.0

Please note: It may be possible to use the digidesign ASIO drivers to use non-Digidesign software under tiger as this has been documented with the digi001 http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/en_US/Compatibility/en210411?retURL=%2Fpkb%2Farticles%2Fen_US%2FCompatibility%2Fen352997&popup=true

im searching for the windows 3.1 driver for this sound card, the audio media III pci card, if anyone has it can you please attach it as a file attachment in a response to this thread!!! its possible that the v1.3 win95 driver (labelled "AMIII Wave Driver Version 1.3 PC" on the 1.44mb floppy) may work in windows 3.1 i have to check that out - the install guide (http://akarchive.digidesign.com/support/docs/am3installguide.pdf) does not mention windows 3.1 but earlier documentation *Does*

Compatibility between old Digidesign cards and newer Apple Computers (B&W G3’s and G4’s)
Article #554 Updated on Apr 27, 2007 at 12:00 AM
There is a compatibility issue with the Blue & White G3’s and ALL G4’s and the following Digidesign PCI cards:
Disk I/O,
DSP Farm I,
PT Project,
SampleCell II, and
Audiomedia III.

If you will be using any of the above cards in a B&W G3’s or G4′,
please check the line on the AMCC chip directly under “PCI Matchmaker” on the PCI Card.
It should end with Q, QC, or QE.
We have determined that the Q rev is not compatible with the B&W G3’s and G4’s (causes the Mac to hang consistently on boot, or when PT is launched).
Cards with the Q rev chip can be upgraded so please contact Digidesign directly to arrange this.

what does this mean?  SELECT audiomedia III cards only work properly with the older 233/266/300 mhz G3's + older PowerPC Macintosh with PCI slots
