Midiman Portman 2x4 Midi interface
« on: December 17, 2017, 12:28:33 PM »
Trying to install this on my Win98SE machine and can't find the right driver. Downloaded the recommended one from the midiman / m-audio website but as far as I can tell it's for another interface (PC/P), and seems to be missing files.

I'm going to keep digging online but would appreciate any leads!

These:

http://www.treiberupdate.de/treiber-download/download-45729-treiber-MIDIMAN-Portman2x4Parallelport-MIDI-Interface2MIDIEin.html

Don't work... they look like they contain the right driver, but pointing windows to the inf file provided results in the PCS (serial port) driver being installed

Turns out it wasn't missing files. In fact, I had failed to copy a couple of hidden files.

I still haven't managed to get it to work though. I'm pretty sure it's the wrong driver - doesn't seem to support more than a single in and out port (which is correct for the PC/P, but not the 2x4).

http://web.archive.org/web/20010616013809/http://www.midiman.net:80/download/drivers/port2x4.exe

download this file
its most likely compatible with windows 95 only though, because its from 1996
it might work with win98se..
make sure you set your parallel port to EPP mode in the bios

seems to be driver version 3.1

I have one of these, works on Win98se just fine but not on XP. I have the cd that comes with the unit, I will upload the entire contents for all to get. The cd contains many more drivers, manuals, here's from the readme.txt file:

The drivers are categorized by Series Folders, then by Operating System.
