ok when i say "Best" i mean in terms of compatibility with websites (no annoying certificate errors, display errors, time stamp errors etc)
https://parrotgeek.com/fxlegacy.htmlhttps://forums.macrumors.com/threads/firefox-quantum-ported-to-10-7-10-8.2191887/using the firefox 72 custom build for mtn lion... it is FAST!!! im on a macbook pro 2010 with core 2 duo penryn processor + it feels like its flying!!
the developer of the firefox build also reccommends a method to get "Chromium Legacy" by blueboxd
Chromium-legacy is the up-to-date browser1 for legacy Mac OS X / OS X / macOS series no longer officially supported:
Mac OS X 10.7 / Lion
OS X 10.8 / Mountain Lion
OS X 10.9 / Mavericks
OS X 10.10 / Yosemite
OS X 10.11 / El Capitan
macOS 10.12 / Sierra
macOS 10.13 / High Sierra
macOS 10.14 / Mojave
but you must download his firefox build first in order to access the files on an out of date mac
https://github.com/blueboxd/chromium-legacy/blob/master.lion/README.mdi had issues with accessing the github site on mountain lion, so i downloaded the custom downloader pref pane for osx preferences window here:
https://jonathanalland.com/old-osx-projects.htmlthis chromium version is funny it actually says x86_64 in the version lol
but the chrome Version 116.0.5845.140.1 (Official Build) and seems like it might just let you "sync" chrome
it seems to be pretty quick on my macbook pro 2010 with 10.8
and the chromium updater seems to co-exist well with the pref pane app
